xTool X1: A Versatile Laser System for Professionals

A Versatile Platform for the Workshop
xTool has launched the X1, a new laser machine that may look like a standard enclosed laser engraver at first glance, but is in fact a far more ambitious project. The company has consolidated years of experience into a single modular platform, making the X1 one of the most versatile devices ever created.
At the heart of the machine is a 55-watt CO₂ laser, which provides high efficiency when working with wood, acrylic, and other materials. However, the X1's main advantage is its modularity. Users can add a 20-watt diode galvo module, which sits alongside the CO₂ laser. This combination allows for detailed engraving at high speeds, while the CO₂ laser handles the cutting process.
Technological Capabilities and Workflow
The xTool Studio software controls both lasers simultaneously, which significantly simplifies the workflow. Testing revealed that this system drastically reduces project completion times. For example, a task that took other models two hours was completed by the X1 in approximately 30 minutes.
In addition to the primary lasers, extra modules can be attached to the back of the unit, including 5-watt UV and 60-watt MOPA lasers. The latter is particularly precise for metal engraving and processing fine details. It should be noted, however, that swapping modules and recalibrating requires both time and space.

Dimensions and Practical Advice
The xTool X1 is a substantial piece of equipment, measuring 1000×580×420 mm. Due to its weight and complexity, installation requires more than two people. The machine is equipped with an adjustable work surface, allowing for the optimal placement of materials of varying thicknesses. The maximum working area is 615 × 320 mm.
Pricing depends on the configuration. The base model costs $3,699, while a fully equipped system with all additional modules can reach up to $10,000. This device is designed for professionals and small businesses that require high precision, versatility, and an integrated workflow.
What This Means for Users
Although professional machines like the xTool X1 are primarily intended for small enterprises and creative workshops, its modular nature allows businesses to expand their capabilities incrementally. If you are looking for a tool that can simultaneously handle mass cutting and complex engraving, the X1 is one of the most powerful alternatives on the market, though it is essential to ensure you have adequate workshop space before purchasing.
