WhatsApp to Introduce In-App Browser for iPhone Users

Greater convenience in chats
WhatsApp is actively working on a feature that will allow iPhone users to open any link directly within the app. While the company introduced similar functionality for specific business links last year, this new update will significantly expand the service to cover all types of web addresses.
As part of current testing, users will be able to choose within WhatsApp settings whether they want to open links using the in-app browser. This feature will be located in the Settings > Chats section, where it will also be possible to clear cache and cookies—a detail important for maintaining privacy and security.
How the new system will work
When a user activates the feature for the first time, the application will display a notification explaining how it works. It is important to note that users will be able to revert to the old mode at any time, allowing links to open automatically in their default system browser.

Regarding security, the company emphasizes that WhatsApp does not have access to the links users share with each other, nor does it monitor which links they choose to open. This information remains fully protected within the application's architecture.
When will it be available
The feature is currently in the early stages of development and is not yet available for public beta testing. However, references found in the latest test versions indicate that developers are actively refining the interface. The exact date when users will be able to access this update on their devices remains unknown.
For users who rely on WhatsApp for daily communication, this change will significantly simplify the process of accessing information. Frequently, switching to an external browser takes time and interrupts the flow of conversation. Staying within the app will allow users to quickly view content and immediately return to their chats, making the digital communication experience more flexible.
