Sony Unveils Translucent Prism Collection for PlayStation 5

Retro style in modern technology
Sony has officially introduced a new line of products called the Prism Collection, allowing PlayStation 5 users to see their console and controller in a whole new light. The new series takes inspiration from the popular translucent design of the 1990s, which was a major trend in consumer tech at the time. Reimagined for modern standards, this aesthetic gives players a clear view of the internal components and intricate details inside their favourite devices.
What is included in the Prism Collection?
The new collection includes DualSense wireless controllers alongside matching replaceable PlayStation 5 console covers. Sony is offering three distinct colour options: flare orange, emerald green, and graphite gray. According to Sony's designers, this approach aims to showcase the craftsmanship and engineering complexity required to create the PS5 console and DualSense controller.
Similar visual styles have also appeared among competitors this year. Microsoft introduced a special edition Xbox Series X for its 25th anniversary, echoing the translucent green look of the original Xbox. However, Sony's new lineup offers a wider range of colours, giving gamers more ways to personalise their setup.

Pricing and availability
Pre-orders for the Prism Collection open on 10 November through the official online PlayStation store and partner retail networks. The DualSense wireless controller will cost $84.99, while the console covers will be priced at $74.99. General availability and official shipments will begin on 4 February 2027.
For gamers following the PlayStation ecosystem, including readers in Georgia, this announcement offers both a visual refresh and potential collector value. Although the internal hardware remains unchanged, translucent casing continues to appeal to players who enjoy seeing the inner workings of technology. It remains to be seen how high global demand will be when the retro-futuristic lineup launches in February.
