Sony ULT Tower 7: A Powerful Sound System for Parties

Sony has introduced the ULT Tower 7, a mid-sized audio system within its new ULT series. Released in September, the device is designed for those seeking high-quality, powerful sound in any environment. The system features seven speakers, including a 280mm woofer that delivers deep, dynamic bass reaching frequencies as low as 20Hz. Its 420-watt output ensures clear, loud audio even in large outdoor spaces without sacrificing quality. ## Technical Capabilities and Features One of the primary advantages of the ULT Tower 7 is its extensive connectivity. The device supports Bluetooth 5.3 with the LDAC codec, ensuring high-resolution audio transmission. Additionally, it includes USB-C, 3.5mm, and RCA inputs, allowing users to connect DJ consoles, turntables, or other audio equipment. Microphone ports provide karaoke enthusiasts with access to sound effects, echo, and other features via Sony's Sound Connect app. Audio parameters can be adjusted using a 10-band equaliser, while Sound Field Optimization technology automatically analyses the environment to balance the sound. ## Design and Practicality Despite its impressive sound, the system has some design limitations. Weighing 22.8 kilograms, the unit is difficult to move because it lacks a retractable handle, making it less practical than some competing models. Furthermore, its IPX4 water-resistance rating only protects against splashes—a standard for this category, though some users may have expected higher protection. Conversely, the battery life is impressive; with the LED lighting turned off, the system provides up to 30 hours of continuous playback. This makes it one of the most durable systems in its class, a significant advantage for parties. ## Is It Worth Buying? Priced at approximately $650, the Sony ULT Tower 7 offers premium sound and versatility. While its 360-degree sound dispersion is not as perfect as some rival models, it remains a powerful and balanced device overall. For users seeking a high-quality audio system for both home use and outdoor events, this model is a strong contender. Its powerful bass and flexible settings make it one of the best choices on the modern market.
