RedMagic Reveals Android 17-Based OS Update Schedule for Devices
The gaming-focused manufacturer details its rollout plan for the latest software update.

Update Schedule and Device List
RedMagic, a prominent player in the gaming smartphone market, has officially confirmed its rollout plan for RedMagic OS 12, which is based on Android 17. The new operating system, which debuted on the RedMagic 12 Pro+, will become available on other company devices in the coming months.
The update process begins in December, when owners of the RedMagic 11 Pro and 11S Pro series will gain access to the new system. They will be joined by the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro in January. By early spring, in March, the update will reach the RedMagic 10 Pro and 10S Pro series, as well as the RedMagic 11 Air and RedMagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro. The final stage of the schedule concludes in April with the RedMagic 10 Air model.
It is important to note that this schedule currently applies only to the Chinese market. The company has not yet released details regarding when the global versions will be updated, leaving users who rely on these devices waiting for further information.
What’s New in RedMagic OS 12?
The new operating system offers users not only visual changes but also a range of features based on artificial intelligence (AI). The interface has been completely redesigned and includes a new, scalable clock widget for a more modern aesthetic. A key addition is the AI Magic Island, which simplifies access to information, alongside a new digital assistant with memory functionality.

For gamers, the updated Game Space is a highlight, as it now automatically adapts to the theme of each individual game. An esports training zone has been added, featuring built-in mini-games for shooting and reaction speed practice. Furthermore, the X-Gravity platform has been updated to version 3.0, improving cloud gaming, console streaming, and the ability to project mobile games onto larger screens.
Connectivity and Ecosystem
One of the most practical additions to RedMagic OS 12 is the new file-sharing system. Files can now be transferred with a single tap, which the company states is fully compatible with Apple devices. This feature significantly simplifies data exchange between different ecosystems.
Although RedMagic devices are primarily imported into various markets rather than through official distribution, the operating system update remains crucial for device stability and security. Once global release dates are announced, users will be able to fully utilise the AI capabilities offered by the new system.
