Motorola Edge 70 Pro Receives Android 17 Update

Motorola has officially commenced the rollout of the Android 17 update for its popular smartphone, the Edge 70 Pro. The update, which weighs in at 3.42 GB, introduces significant changes to both the device's design and functionality. Software version A171WMH.44-25 is currently being delivered to devices across the European market. ## What is new in Android 17? The changelog indicates that Motorola has focused heavily on visual refinement and efficiency. Users can expect a cleaner, more aesthetic interface, an improved notification system, and increased multitasking speeds. The new version of Android 17 brings updated quick settings, a new volume control mixer, redesigned lock screen clocks, and smoother animations. A major addition is support for Live Activities, allowing users to track calls, music, and flashlight status directly from the lock screen. Furthermore, the update integrates Motorola's proprietary AI agent, Qira AI, which the company states is fully optimised for the new system. In terms of security, new control mechanisms and enhanced protection systems have been implemented. ## Update process and expectations The Motorola Edge 70 Pro launched in April with Android 16. According to the company's roadmap, the smartphone is entitled to three major OS updates, making this the first significant upgrade for the model. Notably, Motorola is actively expanding the Android 17 rollout to other devices, including the Signature, Edge 60 Fusion, and Razr Ultra 2026 models. At this stage, the update is being released in limited batches, so users outside of Europe may need to wait several weeks. If you own this model, you can check for the update by navigating to Settings > System updates. It is recommended to back up important data before beginning the installation to prevent any technical issues. This move by Motorola underscores the company's commitment to providing its users with modern and secure software. While official distribution in Georgia may be delayed, owners of global European versions will receive the system update in the coming days.
