Microsoft Retires the Copilot Plus PC Branding
The tech giant is pivoting its approach to marketing AI-enabled hardware.

A Shift in Branding Strategy
Microsoft is adjusting its strategy for artificial intelligence-powered devices. As reported by The Verge, the tech giant is moving away from the "Copilot Plus PC" branding, which was previously reserved for laptops capable of supporting high-performance AI features.
The change is already visible in the company's latest product lineup. Bret Ostrum, Microsoft's vice president for the Surface line, confirmed that while the new 12-inch Surface Pro and 13-inch Surface Laptop meet the necessary system requirements, they will no longer be officially marketed as Copilot Plus PCs.
What This Means for Users
The initiative, launched roughly two years ago, was designed to help customers identify devices best optimized for AI tasks. Qualcomm was a key partner in this campaign, providing the necessary chipsets. However, it appears the company has deemed this specific branding format ineffective.
It remains unclear whether Microsoft will replace this label with a new marketing term or simply integrate AI features as a standard part of the Windows experience. For users in Georgia who rely on Microsoft devices, this change is unlikely to cause any technical inconvenience. Nevertheless, the disappearance of the brand suggests that companies are looking to integrate AI technology through more natural, less aggressive marketing campaigns.
