Meta has officially unveiled its new artificial intelligence assistant, Muse, marking the tech giant's first major step into productivity-focused AI tools. Until now, the company had primarily used AI for entertainment and social features, but the new digital assistant promises to lighten daily routine tasks for users.
According to the company, Muse is designed to save people time. The AI agent can manage various tasks, such as online shopping, email management, travel planning, and other day-to-day responsibilities. Furthermore, the assistant includes visual customisation features, allowing users to alter its appearance to their liking — for example, giving it the form of a purple cat.
Efficient Work and Data Security
As reported by a journalist from The Verge based on hands-on testing, Muse carries out its assigned tasks smoothly and with the expected level of accuracy. However, during testing, the most lasting impression came not from its features, but from the sheer scale of personal data it gathered.
Testing revealed that the artificial intelligence autonomously collects a surprisingly detailed amount of information about the user. Gathering personal data on this scale proved alarming for the user, ultimately overshadowing the productivity benefits Muse offered.
Meta's new tool demonstrates the company's active push to strengthen its position in the digital assistant market. Nevertheless, questions surrounding user privacy remain pressing, particularly as AI assistants begin to independently and deeply process personal data.
