Kia’s New Strategy: Pricing and Differences Between the EV3 and 2027 EV6

Choosing Between Electric Vehicles: EV6 or EV3?
Kia has officially announced pricing for the 2027 model year EV6, which remains unchanged from last year. The company has set the starting price for the base model at approximately $38,000. This strategic move aligns with the introduction of the new, more accessible EV3, which offers an electric driving experience for about $8,000 less, starting at $29,890.
Although EV6 pricing remains stable, following a $5,000 price cut late last year, Kia is working to make electric transport as accessible as possible to a wider audience. The company is currently focused on refreshing inventory and is offering special discounts on both older and newer models.
Technical Specifications and Capabilities
The base EV6 Light standard-range RWD model is equipped with a 63 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 237 miles (approximately 381 km). For more demanding users, models with an 84 kWh battery are available, offering a range of up to 319 miles (513 km). Meanwhile, the EV3 is also available in various configurations, with an 81.4 kWh battery providing a range of up to 516 km.
Both models feature Kia’s modern ccNC (Connected Car Navigation Cockpit) infotainment system, which includes a 30-inch panoramic screen. Both vehicles support the NACS (North American Charging Standard), allowing owners to use Tesla Superchargers without the need for an adapter.

Key Differences
The main technological difference lies in the architecture of the electrical systems. The EV6 uses an 800-volt system, which allows for significantly faster charging—taking only 18 minutes to charge the battery from 10% to 80%. The EV3, based on a 400-volt system, requires approximately 30 minutes for the same process.
Furthermore, the vehicles differ in dimensions. The EV6 is longer and more aerodynamic, while the EV3 features a compact, "boxy" design that makes it more manoeuvrable in urban environments. Together with the EV9, these two Kia models create a complete ecosystem where customers can choose a vehicle based on their specific needs and budget.
For customers interested in electric vehicles, these developments are significant as Kia models continue to gain popularity in Georgia. Improvements in battery technology and charging speeds directly enhance the daily convenience of electric vehicle ownership.
