iPhone Duo Users Report Serious Screen Defects
Early adopters report screen lines and hinge failures shortly after purchase

Owners of Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, are encountering a serious technical defect. According to reports surfacing on online forums, vertical and horizontal lines are appearing on the device’s internal display. This is likely caused by a malfunction in the smartphone’s hinge mechanism. The issue is particularly concerning given that the product has only recently arrived on the market.
What is actually happening?
Some users describe the hinge becoming unusually stiff when unfolding the device, requiring significant effort. At the moment the user overcomes this resistance, a characteristic clicking sound is heard, immediately followed by the appearance of a permanent vertical line in the centre of the screen and a horizontal line on the right side. This pattern is repeating across almost all affected devices.
Interestingly, the problem manifests at different times. Some users encountered the defect within days of purchase, while others reported it after only a few hours of use. Owners state that they handled the devices with care and did not subject them to any unusual stress. Many note that they have previous experience with other foldable smartphones and have never encountered such an issue before.

Apple’s position and future steps
Affected users have already contacted Apple’s technical support. The company is prepared to replace damaged devices with new ones, although the process is complicated by low stock levels. It is particularly difficult to replace the 1TB and 2TB models due to high demand and limited availability.
Although there is no official conclusion yet, technical experts suggest that the problem only affects a specific batch of smartphones. Most devices, including those used for reviews, do not show such defects. It is likely a manufacturing defect that affected only specific production runs.
If you own an iPhone Duo and feel similar resistance when unfolding the device, it is recommended that you contact an Apple service centre immediately. Do not attempt to force the hinge, as this may cause irreversible screen damage. Even though there is no official Apple Store in Georgia, authorised service centres are required to act in accordance with the company’s global policy and assist you in receiving warranty service.
