Huawei Mate X8 Specifications Revealed Ahead of November Launch

A New Generation of Foldable Smartphones from Huawei
Huawei is expanding its foldable smartphone lineup. The Mate X8, successor to the Mate X7 released last November, will officially arrive next month. Reports from China indicate that the company is preparing to offer a device that features significant technical and functional improvements over its predecessor.
Technical Capabilities and Design
The new model will offer users a 6.5-inch external display and an 8.15-inch internal foldable screen. These specifications slightly exceed those of the previous generation, making the device more comfortable for both media consumption and productivity tasks. In terms of photography, Huawei is utilising a 50-megapixel main sensor with a variable aperture and a periscope telephoto lens of the same resolution, which improves image quality across various lighting conditions.
A 6000 mAh battery will power the device. For performance, Huawei will use two types of processors—the Kirin 9050 and Kirin 9050 Pro—depending on the specific version of the smartphone. These chipsets are designed to ensure fast system performance and energy efficiency.

Privacy Display and Innovations
One of the most interesting new features of the Mate X8 is the so-called Privacy Display. This technology, which was introduced this year in the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, allows users to protect information on the screen from prying eyes. It is currently unknown whether this function will be available for both screens or if it will only work on one.
What This Means for Users
Huawei smartphones remain popular, particularly among photography and design enthusiasts. Although the company faces certain restrictions in the global market, its technological achievements in the foldable device category remain innovative. The release of the Mate X8 will further intensify competition in the premium smartphone segment, ultimately expanding the range of choices for consumers.
