GTA 6 Map Size Rivals the Combined Scale of Three Previous Titles
Rockstar Games promises a dense, living world in the upcoming Leonida state.

A Scale That Could Redefine Industry Standards
Anticipation for Grand Theft Auto 6 has reached unprecedented levels within the gaming industry. Recent reports indicate that the map for Rockstar Games' upcoming title, which encompasses the fictional state of Leonida, is nearly equal in size to the company's last three major releases combined: Grand Theft Auto 4, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2. This feat is even more impressive considering that each of those titles was considered a benchmark for open-world gaming upon its release.
A Focus on Quality and Detail
However, Rockstar co-head Aaron Garbut emphasizes that the company is not focusing solely on the map’s surface area. According to Garbut, the primary challenge was ensuring the world’s density and content. One of the most significant advancements is that the game will feature significantly more interiors than previous entries. This allows players to enter a far greater number of buildings, making the virtual world feel more realistic and interactive.
Garbut explains that developers have paid meticulous attention to every location, including back alleys and less conspicuous areas. "You can go to any random point and be sure that it has been carefully crafted," he states. This approach is partly informed by the experience of GTA 5, where certain parts of the map, such as deserts, were found to be less engaging for players. With Leonida, developers have aimed to ensure that every biome is filled with compelling details.

What Awaits Players?
Studio representatives note that despite years of development, there are still areas within the game that even the developers themselves have not fully explored. This is the level of detail that Rockstar fans have been waiting for. From satirical advertisements on billboards to random events unfolding on street corners, Leonida promises to offer players countless hours of exploration.
As for the PC platform, no official information has been released. Traditionally, Rockstar Games allows a certain amount of time between console and PC releases, which often ranges from several months to a year and a half. While players are eagerly anticipating the game, it is likely that PC users will have to wait for some time following the console launch.
For gamers in Georgia, this news is particularly significant, as the GTA series remains one of the most popular franchises in the country. The expansive map and detailed environment are expected to further increase interest in the game as soon as it becomes officially available.
