Google Tests Gemini-Powered Shopping Integration with Flipkart
The tech giant is integrating generative AI into the e-commerce experience

Google is expanding its artificial intelligence capabilities with a new service currently in testing in India. The tech giant is enabling users to make purchases directly from Flipkart, the Walmart-owned platform, through the Gemini chatbot and a dedicated AI mode.
How the new feature works
At this stage, the initiative is limited in scope, covering only select products and a small group of users. The system allows customers to search for items through a dialogue with the chatbot, making the ordering process significantly faster and simpler. Google aims to make artificial intelligence an integral part of daily shopping, transforming traditional search into a more interactive experience.
Although testing is currently confined to the Indian market, the company plans a significant expansion. According to official information, the feature is expected to become available to a wider group of users starting in late October.
This development underscores Google's strategy to integrate its generative AI with major e-commerce platforms. If this experiment in India proves successful, similar services could be introduced in other regions, potentially reshaping the online shopping experience globally.
