Google Maps Users Can Now Access Gemini via Apple CarPlay
The latest update brings conversational AI to your car's dashboard.

A New Capability for Drivers
Google has significantly updated its navigation service. Apple CarPlay users can now connect directly to Google’s artificial intelligence, Gemini, while navigating. This feature allows drivers to manage their routes in a more natural and conversational way, enhancing both safety and comfort while on the road.
How Gemini Works in CarPlay
A dedicated Gemini icon has appeared in the interface, positioned on the right edge of the screen. By tapping it, users can ask complex, multi-step questions or issue voice commands. For example, drivers can report traffic delays aloud, which helps the system provide more accurate information. Notably, this marks the first time Google Maps has offered full voice assistant support within the CarPlay environment. Previously, similar functionality was only available when using the Google Maps app directly on an iPhone screen.
Global Availability
This innovation is already familiar to Android Auto users, and a similar experience was introduced within the Google Maps app on iOS and Android platforms over the past year. Currently, Gemini support in CarPlay is available in the United States. According to Google’s official statement, the global rollout has already begun, and users in various regions worldwide will be able to access it in the near future.
What This Means for Users in Georgia
In Georgia, where the number of Apple CarPlay users is steadily increasing, this Google Maps update will make navigation more efficient. By using voice commands to adjust routes or share information about road conditions, drivers can spend less time looking at the screen and remain more focused on the road. Although Gemini’s support for the Georgian language is still developing, the integration of an intelligent assistant into navigation represents a significant step in the digital transformation of vehicles.
