CMF Speaker S: A Compact Audio Device With a Unique Design
A Design That Commands Attention
The portable Bluetooth speaker market is currently saturated, yet CMF has managed to create a product that stands out through its visual aesthetic. Priced at €69, the new Speaker S is inspired by the shape of a milk carton. The device is available in four colours: white, red, black, and cyan. Each version features a special rotating control that serves as both a functional tool and a core design element. For instance, the white and red models feature a lever-style button, while the others sport ring-shaped or X-shaped constructions.
Modular Build and Smart Features
CMF engineers have given the device a modular design. By unlocking the rear panel, users can swap out the front cover or the rotating dial. While the company does not currently sell these parts individually, the feature is intriguing for those who might own multiple units. As for the rotating element, it does much more than just adjust the volume. Pressing the button allows you to control music playback or skip tracks, making the device more interactive and engaging.
Technical Specifications and Sound Quality
Technically, the Speaker S is equipped with a 45mm driver capable of delivering 10 watts of power. The frequency range spans from 70Hz to 20kHz, while two passive radiators are positioned on the sides to enhance bass performance. In practical testing, the speaker delivers clear, mid-range focused audio, which particularly highlights vocals and instrumental parts.
However, it is worth noting that the device noticeably lacks low-end frequencies. Enabling the Ultra Bass feature does little to improve the situation and often degrades the overall sound quality. Nevertheless, considering its compact size, the output is surprisingly loud and clean. An additional benefit is the IP68 rating, which makes the speaker fully resistant to water and dust.
Why Should You Buy It?
If you are looking for a compact, stylish, and durable device that fits easily into a bag, the CMF Speaker S is an excellent choice. It is not designed for audiophiles, but its functionality, unique visual identity, and high level of protection set it apart from the competition. This CMF model is now available in European, Asian, and North American markets, further underscoring the brand's ambitions on the global stage.
