Casio F-B100W vs. Apple Watch Ultra 4: A Step-Counting Reality Check
Can a $65 budget watch really keep pace with a $799 premium wearable?

A Technological Duel: Retro Style Meets Modern Precision
The recently released Casio F-B100W bears a striking visual resemblance to the legendary F-91W, yet it offers a significantly expanded feature set. Priced at $65, the device provides users with Bluetooth connectivity, a 'Find My Phone' function, and accurate step tracking. For those who prefer to avoid the complexity of high-end smartwatches, this device serves as an ideal alternative.
However, a logical question arises: just how reliable is such a budget-friendly gadget? To find out, we pitted it directly against the market leader, the Apple Watch Ultra 4, which starts at $799. This comparison focuses not on technical specifications, but specifically on the accuracy of their step-counting capabilities.
Testing Results
Before beginning the experiment, we noted one important detail: the Casio watch lacks a dedicated workout mode. Consequently, it automatically tracked every movement, including steps taken before leaving the house. Once the Apple Watch finished its workout tracking, we compared the data from both devices.

The results were quite impressive. The Apple Watch Ultra 4 recorded 4,679 steps, while the Casio F-B100W logged 4,910. Accounting for the 269 steps taken before the workout, the Casio’s adjusted total is 4,641 steps. The difference between the two devices is a mere 38 steps—a negligible margin of error considering the massive disparity in price.
What This Means for the User
This test demonstrates that if your primary interest is activity monitoring and you appreciate a retro design, the Casio F-B100W is an excellent choice. While it lacks the advanced health sensors, ECG functionality, and complex metrics characteristic of Apple’s device, it is in no way inferior to premium watches when it comes to counting steps.
In markets where consumers frequently seek a balance between price and functionality, these types of devices are becoming increasingly popular. If you want a gadget that simply does its job without requiring daily charging or complex configuration, this Casio model is certainly worth your attention.
