BMW iX7: The New Flagship Electric SUV Arrives in 2027

A New Era for BMW
BMW is significantly expanding its electric vehicle range. The company has confirmed that it will introduce the second generation of its largest and most popular SUV, the X7, by 2027. For the first time, it will be available as a fully electric model: the iX7. This vehicle will sit at the pinnacle of the brand's EV portfolio, offering customers a highly sophisticated, premium experience.
Although BMW is actively implementing its new Neue Klasse design concept, the iX7 will retain a more traditional aesthetic. Observations of test prototypes suggest the vehicle will keep the brand’s signature kidney grille, though it will be narrower and more vertical. Notably, the iX7 will not adopt the headlight design seen in the Neue Klasse, opting instead to maintain a split-headlight style.
Technological Power and Interior
According to internal sources, the iX7 interior will share technological solutions with the BMW 7 Series sedan. Passengers will have access to an impressive 31.3-inch 8K resolution BMW Theatre Screen, while a 14.6-inch monitor will be mounted on the front dashboard. For added comfort, additional touch panels will be integrated into the rear doors, giving the vehicle a truly futuristic feel.

Regarding technical specifications, the iX7 powertrain is expected to resemble the iX5 60 xDrive. This involves a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system capable of producing approximately 578 horsepower. A 144 kWh battery and 800-volt architecture will facilitate rapid charging, allowing the vehicle to gain up to 170 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes.
What to Expect in the Future
BMW plans to begin production of the new X7 and iX7 at its Spartanburg plant in the US by the end of 2027. This model represents a significant milestone for the company, as it combines the practicality of an SUV and three rows of seating with modern electric technology. For customers in Georgia interested in premium electric vehicles, this development means a more powerful and comfortable alternative will soon be available on the market.
While official details are yet to be finalised, the arrival of the iX7 will further intensify competition in the electric vehicle segment. BMW is clearly aiming to prove that electrification does not require compromising on luxury or scale.
