Audeze Maxwell 2 ANC: Premium Gaming Headphones Get a New Feature

Audeze’s gaming headphones have long been considered the benchmark for audiophile-grade quality in the market. The company has now introduced the Maxwell 2 ANC, which adds Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology to the popular model. The result is a device that remains unmatched in audio quality, though it presents a more difficult choice for consumers.
Design and Build
Visually, the Maxwell 2 ANC is nearly identical to its predecessor. It is a substantial device, weighing in at 560 grams. While this weight may be a drawback for some, Audeze has utilized memory foam cushions and a ventilated leather headband to ensure maximum comfort during extended gaming sessions. A dedicated button for controlling ANC has been added to the left ear cup, providing a far more convenient experience than navigating through software menus.
Audio Capabilities and Noise Cancellation
The standout feature of these headphones remains the 90mm planar-magnetic drivers. They deliver deep bass, crystal-clear highs, and detailed surround sound. Crucially, the addition of ANC has not negatively impacted audio quality; the bass retains its power even when noise cancellation is active. Furthermore, SLAM (Symmetric Linear Acoustic Modulator) technology helps the device maintain audio precision in any environment.

However, there are compromises. Battery life, which reached 80 hours on the standard Maxwell 2, has been reduced to 35 hours when ANC is enabled. While this remains sufficient for several days of intensive use, the difference compared to the previous model is significant.
Is It Worth Buying?
The Maxwell 2 ANC is priced at $429, which is $100 more than the standard version. If complete isolation from external noise is essential for you, these headphones are an excellent choice. However, if noise cancellation is not a priority, the original Maxwell 2 remains the best option in terms of value for money.
The device is compatible with PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and mobile devices. It is designed for gamers who refuse to compromise on sound quality and are prepared to pay a premium price for the ultimate audio experience.
