Audeze and Audiokinetic Set New Standard for Spatial Audio in Gaming
The integration of head-tracking technology into Wwise promises to streamline 3D audio workflows for developers.

Innovation in Game Audio
Audio technology companies Audeze and Audiokinetic have announced a significant partnership aimed at providing game developers and sound designers with tools to simplify the creation and management of spatial audio. As part of this collaboration, Audeze’s Maxwell 2 ANC headphones now integrate directly with Audiokinetic’s renowned audio platform, Wwise.
The key development allows developers to utilise the Maxwell 2 ANC’s built-in, self-calibrating head-tracking directly within the Wwise environment. Sound designers no longer require additional software to precisely position 3D audio effects. The system operates on a plug-and-play principle; users simply connect the headphones via a USB-C cable or the low-latency USB-C dongle to begin monitoring immediately.
Expanded Opportunities for Developers
Audeze CEO Sankar Thiagasamudram stated that this integration removes barriers between a creator's vision and its technical execution. Developers now possess a portable, studio-grade system to place, audition, and mix 3D audio in any environment. This is particularly vital for complex tasks such as VR simulations, Tempest 3D AudioTech binauralisation, or non-standard speaker layouts for location-based entertainment (LBE) systems.
Audiokinetic CTO Martin Dufour noted that this partnership establishes a new industry standard. He explained that the technology simplifies the implementation of live, spatial audio, ultimately increasing player immersion and the depth of the gaming experience.
Technical Advantages
The Maxwell 2 ANC headphones are defined by high-end technical specifications that enhance the workflow. The device features 90mm planar magnetic drivers utilising Uniforce, Fluxor, and Fazor technologies. Furthermore, the active noise cancellation (ANC) system ensures frequency response consistency, which is critical for audio engineers working in professional settings.
For developers and audio studios, this update provides access to world-class tools that make the production process faster and more precise. As immersion becomes a primary requirement in modern gaming, such integrations allow creative teams to spend less time on technical hurdles and more time focusing on high-quality content.
