Apple's New Lineup: MacBook Pro with OLED and iPad mini 8
Apple is set to unveil its latest hardware, including a touchscreen MacBook Pro and a water-resistant iPad mini.

Apple's Second Autumn Wave
Apple is set to hold its second major presentation of October on the 28th. The event, titled "Pro and Tell," will not be a traditional large-scale launch; however, the company has invited select media to Los Angeles to experience the new devices firsthand. The rest of the world will receive news via official press releases, which are expected to be published the same day at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
MacBook Pro: OLED and Touchscreen
The main focus of the event is the update to the MacBook Pro series. The most significant advancement is the introduction of an OLED display, which will provide better contrast, sharper colours, and improved energy efficiency. However, the touchscreen functionality is drawing the most attention. macOS 27 has been specifically adapted for touch gestures, allowing users to interact with the screen in addition to using the trackpad and keyboard.
In terms of design, the laptops will be lighter, and the notch will be replaced by the Dynamic Island. Notably, Apple does not plan to update the processors at this stage, and the OLED models will continue to use the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The screen hinge has been reinforced to ensure stability during touch interactions. It is expected that these models will sit alongside existing versions as more premium products, which will likely lead to a price increase.
iPad mini 8 and Other Updates
The iPad mini 8 will also receive significant updates. The small tablet will feature an OLED screen for the first time and a new design that eliminates speaker grilles. This change will grant the device an IP rating for water resistance, a first for an iPad. The A20 Pro chip will handle performance, while the front camera will shift from a portrait to a landscape orientation, making it more convenient for video calls.
Additionally, Apple plans to update the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and the 24-inch iMac with M6 chips. These models will not undergo visual changes, but they will represent a step forward in terms of performance.
When Will We See the New Products?
Pre-orders will begin on October 28, immediately following the presentation, with devices expected to go on sale starting November 6. These updates are of interest to international users, as the evolution of the Apple ecosystem directly impacts global technology markets. The combination of OLED technology and touch control in the MacBook represents a significant shift that could potentially become the new standard for laptop interaction.
