Apple Releases Second watchOS 27.2 Release Candidate

Further testing before official release
The Apple ecosystem is preparing for a series of major updates. Early next week, the company will introduce new versions of its operating systems, including iOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2, and iPadOS 27.2. Alongside this process, the second Release Candidate (RC) version of watchOS 27.2 has been made available to developers and public beta testers.
Although the watchOS update is less extensive in terms of functionality compared to the iPhone operating system, Apple has prioritised a polished release. Just days after the first RC version was published, the company distributed an additional build, 24S118, indicating that certain issues were identified in the initial version.
What has changed in the new build?
Official details regarding the changes in the 24S118 build remain unknown. However, based on standard industry practice, the release of a second Release Candidate almost always indicates that Apple has identified minor bugs that required fixing before the software is rolled out to the general public.

As a reminder, the previous version, known by the code name 24S5101f, became available to users earlier this week. The new update can now be downloaded by those enrolled in Apple's beta testing programme. If you already have a beta version installed on your Apple Watch, the update will be available in your system settings.
What this means for users
For Apple Watch users, this update primarily signifies improved system stability and security. While we do not expect revolutionary changes with watchOS 27.2, the optimisation of the operating system will directly impact device performance and battery life.
When the update becomes officially available to all users early next week, it is recommended to update the system via the Apple Watch settings to avoid potential errors and receive the latest security patches. Apple’s policy of refining RC versions aims to provide users with the most secure and reliable experience possible.
