Apple Releases iOS 27.2: Siri Upgrades and New Features

New Siri Capabilities and Language Support
Apple has officially released iOS 27.2, bringing a range of significant updates to users. The primary focus of this release is the expansion of Siri’s intelligent capabilities. The virtual assistant can now more effectively utilise personal context—including voice messages, photos, and calendar data—to provide more accurate assistance. Additionally, Siri’s artificial intelligence features have gained support for further languages, including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Security and Visual Changes
The update also addresses the authenticity of digital content. Apple has introduced SynthID watermarking for images created with Image Playground and for significantly edited photographs. This makes it easier to identify AI-generated or manipulated images, thereby reducing the risk of misinformation. Visually, the Apple Music icon has been updated to a black-and-white design, aligning with the company’s recently adopted design standards.
Communication and Productivity Tools
The Messages app has received contextual suggestions—smart shortcuts that assist users based on their specific situation. For example, when receiving an event invitation, the system will automatically suggest adding it to your calendar. For FaceTime users, the update adds a Dual Capture feature for group calls, allowing the simultaneous use of both front and rear cameras. iPhone Duo owners also gain support for the USB-C Apple Pencil and the new Edge Light feature, which improves facial lighting during video calls.
How to Update Your Device
The rollout for iOS 27.2 has begun, and all compatible iPhones will receive a notification in the coming days. If you prefer not to wait, you can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update. While this is not as major an update as the original iOS 27 release, the system improvements and new features make it an essential download. For users who actively rely on the Apple ecosystem, these changes will make daily communication and productivity more convenient.
