Anthropic Launches Claude Duet, a Proactive AI Agent
The new agent aims to redefine digital assistance by performing tasks autonomously.

The competition in the artificial intelligence sector is entering a new phase. Anthropic has officially unveiled Claude Duet, a proactive AI agent designed to anticipate user needs and execute actions independently. This development serves as a direct response to similar tools on the market, such as Meta’s Muse and OpenAI’s Dots agents.
What is Claude Duet and how does it work?
The primary advantage of Claude Duet is its proactivity. Unlike traditional chatbots that only respond to user queries, Duet actively monitors connected applications. Powered by Anthropic’s latest model, Opus 5.5, it can prepare a brief daily overview of tasks. The agent operates on cloud servers and utilises a virtual machine with its own browser, allowing it to perform complex tasks, such as building web applications, independently.
Anthropic is targeting professionals and small business owners who must track numerous details daily. Duet automates routine administrative work; however, for security, the system requires user approval for all critical actions, such as sending messages, making payments, signing documents, or deleting files.
Security and usage
Claude Duet does not gain access to user passwords or sensitive personal data. Anthropic has implemented a specialised classifier and security system that monitors every message to prevent data leaks. The agent integrates with existing Claude accounts, requiring no complex configuration as it automatically utilises existing memory and connected services.
Currently, Claude Duet is available only in the United States for Pro and Max subscription plan holders. Interested users can request access via a waitlist. The agent can be managed through both a web interface and a dedicated iOS application.
What does this mean for users?
The arrival of Claude Duet indicates a shift in the role of AI. We are entering an era where artificial intelligence is no longer just a search engine or a text generator, but a digital assistant that works on our behalf. While the service is currently limited by geography, this technological trend is set to become a global standard, radically simplifying workflows in the near future.
